When my type 2 diabetes was first recognized it was because I was found to have a fasting blood glucose level of 175 mg/Dl. I had my first diabetes hemoglobin A1c test only many weeks later because my doctor failed to notify me about my high fasting blood glucose levels. That is one of the reasons why I fired that doctor and got a new doctor for my diabetes management. Do not tolerate a lack of attention to your case or incompetence, as it is your life in the balance not your doctor's!
